Overview

Thank you for taking part in this survey. This is a survey to gather feedback on your experiences and views of the Department for Work and Pensions’ benefit rules criteria for people who are terminally ill.

The Special Rules for Terminal Illness are designed to provide patients with fast-track access to benefits and in the majority of cases they will receive the highest rate of benefit. A DS1500 Report Form (completed by a health professional) is used to provide supporting evidence for a benefit claim under the special rules.

The special rules criteria are applied to those who “have a progressive disease and, as a consequence of that disease, their death can be reasonably expected within six months”.

Your responses will be used to help the Department consider future options for how the benefits system supports people who are living with a terminal illness.

We would be very grateful if you could complete this short 10-minute survey. Your participation is completely anonymous – we are not collecting the names of respondents.

The survey is being carried out by researchers in DWP’s Disability Analysis Division in accordance with DWP’s data security protocols. All data will be securely destroyed at the end of the project.
